JCA2008 - ANNOUNCEMENT  5th YEAR

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of CardioAlex2008, We proudly announce you and the esteemed staff of your department; Junior CardioAlex Award–JCA.
We offer physicians (cardiologists, intervention lists, cardiac critical care specialists & Endovascular surgeons) the opportunity to demonstrate their experience and the experience of their centers by presenting clinical cases.

Criteria of candidates presenting:

  1. Staff or fellow in a university, military, private and governmental institutes.
  2. Age less than 40 years in end of June 2008.
  3. Payment of full registration fees (50% of Cardio Alex 2008 registration fees) upon submission of the case.
  4. Registration fees for case/abstract presenters are 50% of the regular CardioAlex registration fees.

Participants who wish to submit clinical cases should follow the guidelines:

  • Introduction of the case
  • Description of the problem
  • Procedure and technique used
  • Take home message.

Presentation format:

  • PowerPoint, with pictures, animations or video (mpeg1, jpeg).
  • Videos must be embedded inside the PowerPoint and not on a DICOM CD.
  • NO PHYSICAL SLIDES ARE ALLOWED, ONLY COMPUTER PRESENTATIONS WILL BE ALLOWED.
  • Time of each presentation: 10 min (5 min. presentation & 5 min discussion)
  • In case your presentation with pictures are within 2MB you can send them by email to icom@dataxprs.com.eg
  • Presentations exceeding 2MB size should be sent on a CD to ICOM address below.
  • All presentations should be accompanied with full data for the candidate on a separate paper typed on a computer (not hand written):

    • Name
    • Date of Birth
    • University
    • Place of work
    • Degrees
    • Postal Address
    • email
    • mobile phone
    • Title of the presentation
    • A copy of the original DICOM CDs.


  • Failure to fulfill any of the above mentioned requirements may lead to case cancellation.

The Jury Committee will grade the presentations from 1 to 18 (Eighteen=best) according to the following criteria:

  • Teaching and educational value.
  • Presentation quality.
  • Originality of the case.
  • Clinical message.

General Information:

  • Day, date &time of resentation will be sent to the presenter after acceptance.
  • Only one case may be submitted per person or five cases per centre.
  • Participants will be advised by e-mail or by fax of the Committee decision max. by end of May 2008.
  • The best 18 cases will be presented (in each session 6 cases)
  • When accepted, cases will be presented orally (10 min.: 5 minutes presentation, 5 minutes discussion) in a dedicated room and jury members will select the 3 best cases at the end of the 3 sessions.
  • The 3 first awarded cases will be presented in the meeting highlight session on Friday 27-6-2008 in the main auditorium.

  • Once you have submitted your case, you will receive confirmation submission within two days.  
  • If you not receive electronic confirmation, please contact ICOM .
